Creeds, Needs and Greed

Post by seeker » Wed Feb 01, 2012 8:23 am

The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.

Leo Tolstoy said "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." While we're waiting for others to renounce their desire for wealth, we can reduce the number of potential victims by educating ourselves to be less gullible. In elections, we can accept the (gullible?) path offered us by the candidates, parties, and PACs, or we can choose our own path. We have an opportunity to mold candidates according to our needs and desires. A possible starting point is to tell the candidates "I intend to vote for someone who ...". The hard part is figuring out what you want. We have maximum power before the June primary. There are more candidates, more competition, and the candidates are just starting to define themselves. Candidates may accept large contributions from parties, corporations, or PACs, but only we can vote for them.
